Hey all, the drivers window on my 73 cuda does not roll up evenly. The front of it rolls up fine, but I have to pull up the back of the window to get it close. I haven't tore into it yet, but does anyone have ideas on what the likely culprit is?

Thanks,

Kansan

It could be a lot of things , slides not greased / sticking , slider broken in the track , adjustment of the rear plate , worn parts etc .

Check in the factory shop manual for door adjustments. And while your inside the door, make sure everything looks good and not worn or broken. And lube everything up well with grease. (Side note: I always look like I got in a fight with a wildcat after working in car doors and hate going inside more than once!)

I know the feeling, I'm not as young as I used to be. A good long-sleeve shirt is a must.....

I found the problem....the plastic (or whatever) roller that goes back on forth on the scissor arms fell off. I've ordered a rebuild kit and now just have to figure out how to get the window out. I'm sure it will be a pain.

You can remove (and repair) then reinstall the window regulator (scissor arms) without removing the glass itself. Use duct tape to hold the window glass up once the regulator is removed. My arms ache just thinking about it!

I really need to clean up the tracks. I believe I have access to a media blaster on base, but thanks for the info.

Like I said in my first post, might as well go all the way and remove everything and fix or replace anything that needs it. Don't want to go in there more than once! 🙂
