What shocks to use with super stock springs?

Well after some modifying I finally have the superstock springs in my 72 Challengrer.
When I built the car for a customer back in the 90s, I forgot that I moved the rear springs inboard, and since they were moved farther than the kit spring setup, I had to cut and redo the superstock hangers. Now I wonder what shocks work best with these springs?
I figure that I want a shock that is loose in extension for ease of chassis separation, but not sure. With all of my other A bodies, I just used what was on the car and they worked fine, but those were only 11 second small block cars. I have a set of new KYB gas adjusts that I got in a big trade deal, but if there is something better, I'll buy them. I plan on running 9 somethings in street trim eventually.
Thanks for any info!

Seems like QA1 and Bilstein fully adjustable shocks are what most folks are using these days. The Challenger Hellcats and SRTs use Bilstein from the factory. I noticed the son's Scat Pack has Bilstein as well.

The SS springs will create more body rise than original, so you need shocks that are at least a couple inches longer than stock to avoid topping them out. The common go to way back when was Imperial shocks. In the 80s, using Rancho adjustable truck shocks came into vogue for a while. These days, there are numerous quality shocks out there in fixed rates or in single or double adjustable that can provide good ride control. Just make sure they are longer than stock.

I was at a swap meet Sunday and a Mopar fanatic was moving out of state and sold MD a TON of new motor and chassis parts!
In them was a brand new pair of 2" longer KYBs. Put them on yesterday and time permitting I will drive it today.
Now I need an 8-71 or bigger to go on the blower manifold too! I have the drive setup, and carbs, an 8 is a bit small for the 512, so I will see what is out there.

I've had great results with Rancho 9-way single adjustables. Cal-Trac appears to have used or still is using relabeled Ranchos. They are a good, HD, stiff shock. The harder a car leaves, the stiffer the shock needs to be. It will control rise & spring wrap-up. OEM style truck shocks, even old race shocks are too soft. Too much separation is not good. Had QA-1 shocks single adjustable up front w/6 cyl bars to work with the rear.

I lost track of Rancho's spec page which gives compressed & extended lengths as well as bushing sizes of all their part #'s. I believe they started RS-999**** and they had about 3 different lengths. Their part #'s were grouped pretty close together.

Never been a fan of KYB , if the springs are moved inboard I doubt you will need longer shocks as the shocks will be be more compressed with the lower mount inward .
QA1 Rancho & Bilstein are all great shocks , definately want adjustable to control the rise tho .

still is using relabeled Ranchos.
I knew someone had to be using them.
79 Ramcharger 4wd front shocks were close to the challenger rear shock. I think they were an 1" shorter.

E1 Eyering with 5/8" ID rubber bushing

E1 - L/E Large eyering with rubber bushing. The (xxx) after L/E is the bushing ID.

E2 Eyering with bushing and metal sleeve The (xxx) after E2 are the sleeve dimensions. Example: (12 x 32) = 12mm ID x 32mm wide

E3 Eyering with slotted barpin The (xxx) after E3 is the barpin slot dimensions & rotation. Example: (48 x 80 x 0) = 48mm from slot ID to slot ID, 80mm barpin OD, with 0 degrees rotation. (means barpin is perpendicular to shock body)

S1 Standard 3/8" / 10mm OD stem (bayonet) mount

S1(xxx) Stem with special dimension Example: S1(12mm) = 12mm OD stem
