Why different years for Cuda console??

Guys I have a 70 Cuda,yet when I priced out consoles..The 70 is a different part #?Am I wrong?Is the floor different?Is it a grain thing?

71-74 has an ashtray in the back, 70 has an open spot for the seatbelts buckles to go into.

Yes,Yes!!The Console i was looking at for sale has a rear ashtray,and its for a 72.Soo either will work and its just a matter of you will notice.My car is a tribute car,so its ok if its not %100..Yet it would be nice to have it correct!

That seatbelt buckle hole is useless anyway you can only get 2 buckles in there and you have 4 for the front seatbelts. The one with the ashtray looks better and if you change you mind latter you can convert it to the earlier style but you can't convert the 1970 type to the ashtray style.

I think it's funny that someone is gonna be sitting in the backseat of a car smoking a cigarette. Totally different mindset back then.
