My stroker motor has been together since 2009. It only has 2800 running miles on it. I pulled the motor and trans a few months ago.
I have decided to try these Trickflow 240 heads ( I’ve had since pre C-19) on the bench.
This motor had a hydraulic flat tapped cam, Edelbrock rpm heads, 1.5 roller rockers, six barrel and 5 speed Tremec with 3:91 rear gears.
Ran really hard. Started having lifter issues last year. Also time for a clutch.
Going to start this freshen up with a dual plane 7193 Edelbrock intake and 950 DP. I just wanted to share what I’m doing because, I’ve never been so undecided about cams and lifters in my life.
If you guys could share your experience with solid flat, hydraulic roller or solid roller would be much appreciated. It’s 90% street car with a bit of racing without a tree.
I know this topic gets worn out from what I’ve read so, my apologies in advance.
It’s a 500 ci. And here’s a few pics.
Thanks

Sharper the lobes on the cam, the harder the action between the cam and the lifters , but after that, roller bearing rockers, sweet on valves ...

👍🏻 Thanks, I plan on it.
I’m going use Hughes rockers, probably 1.6

Stay away from Comp Cams and lifters, they’re having quality issues.

Every type of cam has upsides & downsides , if you go to roller you need EDM lifters to put oil onto the roller in the lifter , long idling periods can starve rollers of oil , hydraulic rollers limit the ramp speeds as the lifters can collapse under the load of a fast ramp making solid roller a better choice .
All flat tappets need special high ZDDP oils to survive , I have built a lot of solid flat tappet strokers & you can get almost solid roller grinds with a solid flat tappet custom grind & this has been my preference over the years & the cost is far less .
I mostly use Lunati or Engle Cams as the profiles are designed for the wider Mopar lifter & are not copied from Chev grinds Like Comp does .
You may want to look at the Holley 300-14 Street Dom intake , I mostly use these as they sit lower for hood clearance & make killer power , of course I heavily port them .

I ordered a roller cam and roller lifter kit from Lunati on January 11th. It was supposed to be delivered on Feb 28th. I called them last week for an update and rep good me another 6 to 8 weeks if I'm lucky. So just beware, make sure you take this into consideration whatever you order. They have me the new bs answer of supply chain issues.

Thanks for the info Slug. Yep! Not surprised.
I’ve been in the parts biz for 38 years and have never experienced such h a cluster #.
Especially with inaccuracies on ETA’s of backordered parts or simply no ETA at this time from the factory. So many supply issues along with vendor and basic labor.
Different times for sure.
One of the reasons I grabbed these heads a couple years back.
