Hey guys,

Can anyone visually ID this rear end for me? This is the only photo that I have of it. Dana 60?

Thank you so much!!

Definatly not a Dana , looks like it has a round cover bolted on the rear , looks more like the 8 1/4" diff but E bodys never had the 8 1/4 could be the 7 1/4 " what engine did it have originally ?

The 8 1/4 has more of a round shape. The chart makes it look oval.

Post some other pics from the front of the rear. Is it solid in the front? Does it have a drop out front section?

Thank you all for the info. Unfortunately That is the best photo I have of the rear end.

cruddy 8 3/4 you guys think? What would that support?

I am going back up to see the car next weekend and I will jack it up and get more detailed photos.

Thanks again for all of the responses.

The car was originally a 1970 Challenger SE. BUT what I was told is that an RT drive line and motor was swapped in. It has a 440 HP block...

I did gather a bit more information about the rear end from my uncle. Apparently he thinks it is out of a Chrysler 300 or similar 4 door sedan. It has a posi differential and the gear ration is unknown.

Does that help at all?

An 8.75 would be what you'd find in a Chrysler 300 and the term that we use for what you call posi is actually sure grip in Mopar terms.

The 300 rear would put factory 15X7 wheels too close or right at the edge of too close to the fenders.
