hey forum, me dad and myself decided to work on a project with my sons before they start driving. We have a lot of work ahead of us, suspension, engine, trans, rear end, the only thing we have done so Far is removed the interior and mitigated the rust then dropped the old transmission and removed the old seized up 318. First thing up is the replace the front k member with the full QA1 suspension.

Nice family project. No need to go to a QA1 front suspension in my opinion since it all retains the torsion bars anyway. Just rebuild all of what you have. Unless, you plan on making more of a race car out of it, then go to a coil over conversion front suspension.

:welcome: aboard.
Where you go from here depends on your budget. There can be a lot of rust hiding under the paint. Dipping, dustless blasting or sandblasting are in your future. Also good to get some good manuals to aid in proper assembly. Here are links to a few.

Welcome again, that’s a great project for you and your boys. It will be fun, especially when she’s complete! And, nothing wrong with using the factory suspension set up.
Glad you’re here👍🏻

Floor pans and trunk pan are not too difficult; I would do them while it’s still sitting on all four wheels (verify the car is not listing to one side). Pay a few dollars extra for American made spot weld cutter. I bought a three pack of imported ones that were supposed to be M2 tool steel, they looked good but could only cut about six spot welds before they were dull. I bought American made ones, at about three times the price. With one bit I did the entire rest of the car; roof, firewall, trunk, floor, etc. Don’t get the ones the look like a saw blade, they are not great. Get the drill bit style.
