does anyone know were the double tan wire plugs in? I cant find it in the service manual. These are the wires in the dash that hook to the ac/heater controls. Thanks

Can you determine where the wires originate from the bulkhead connector?

Check out " MyMopar.com" - Go to: Tools/Reference - Service Manuals - Then to : 1970 Dodge Challenger and Dart Service Manual --OR--
http://www.mymopar.com/downloads/servicemanuals/1970_Challenger_Dart_Service_Manual.zip .
***Sections; Electrical Wiring Diagrams 8-93, 8-94; Electrical Wiring Adaptations 8-104 ; and Air Conditioning 24-47 ***.
These may help you .
Tomorrow, I can try to post pictures of my original HVAC harness that I recently unplugged from my box as I am rebuilding it, although the other connectors are still connected to the switch and control. This may help out as well!

Also you can check in the " Dodge Chassis Body Service Manual " mine is for 1971 : under Wiring Diagrams (Group Index/page) 8-151 ** this is for a Standard Cluster ; 8-153 is for a Rallye Cluster ; and also 8-156 AC Wiring.
I will try to post pictures of my connections tonight.

Here's some pictures of my original harness connected to the AC/heater switch and the terminals that go to the AC/Heater blower motor resistor. I'll try to look further next chance I get.

Hey Dave,

I see what is the issue. This first picture is a normal non a/c wiring setup. The dash harness has an insertion wiring connection between C1-14BK* and C1A-14BK*.

For the A/C wiring, disconnect C1-14BK* and C1A-14BK*. The A/C sub harness dual tan connector C7-14T and C7A-14T plugs into C1A-14BK*.

Further away from the A/C controls, there is the CIC-14BK* on the A/C sub harness that plugs into C1-14BK*

I edited the schematics to show where these connections are.

Hope that helps.

Hey Dave,

I just saw this and something came to mind to check. The very first picture that you posted for the red three position connector that plugs into the vacuum switch show the wiring in the wrong location compared to the hand written note of the connector outline. Member 71RT383 does show in picture DSCN2834.JPG the loading of the wiring into that connector correctly.

The picture posted below show the A/C heater box circuit board and connection that needs made from the sub A/C harness connection into the main dash harness.

Keep me posted.
