Hi Guys I'm a new member but have used this site as a guest and have been very grateful for all the help you guys have been. I bought my 70 challenger back in 1980, no motor, no tranny and put it on the road for six months. I then got married and started a family. towed car from house to house. Now 37 years later its time, to finish what I started so long ago and put this beast back on the road. Thanks for all the help in the past.

Welcome to the site from mid Michigan and glad you hung onto the car for 37 years. Looks like it's going to be a great looking Challenger.

Welcome to the site RJH, Sharp looking Challenger you have there. Good thing you kept it all these years. Cars in that condition bring big $$ today. It looks like the site just got 2 new members with 70 Challengers. It's good to see more of them will be back on the roads again. This site is great place to help & information. Good Luck.

Very nice! What engine did it have originally and what does it have now?
Thanks. Originally a 340 small block. Now a .030 440 . mostly mopar performance stuff..509 cam, roller rockers and closed chamber heads. Had a local machine shop install the larger exhaust valves. And to help enjoy the street a pistol grip 4 spd.

Sorry to clarify. The heads are 1964 383 closed chamber heads with a small 1.60 exhaust valves. The machine shop installed the larger 1.74 exhaust valves.

Welcome RJH from New Jersey!

I know how you feel and am glad you are finally getting to work on your Challenger.
I bought my 70 Challenger, A66 convertible in 1979 with the motor out, fixed and drove it till 1984, then put it into storage.
I finally started working on mine about two years ago.
Is there an A66 on your tag or paperwork? I'm a fan of the A66 cars.

Best of luck with the work on your Challenger!

Thanks for the welcome. Glad to see I'm not the only person to hold onto a car this long. I wish I had a fender tag or build sheet . My car was just a rolling chassis. I believe all 340 cars were A66. I have started making a list of what options the car came with, but as far as visually, I have no idea what she might have looked liked other than it was hemi orange with a flat hood.
Best of luck to you also, with your challenger

How long ago did you own your A66 and do you have any pictures you can share? More details on your ‘71 would be nice too. By your screen name I would expect to see a big block in the engine room.
Btw you should start your own thread in the Welcome Wagon but welcome anyways!
