Grant Steering Wheel Question

I'm thinking about replacing the steering wheel on my 70 Barracuda. Does anyone have experience with installing Grant steering wheels? If the crush can is not used, do you need to purchase the 2 inch spacer? I was looking at the installation instructions online. It uses a plastic piece to cancel the turn signals, which led me to believe the crussh can is not used. If you don't use the spacer, is the steering wheel at a comfortable position? Thanks

Probably depends on which one.
I got the Tuff wheel copy. It was a direct bolt on.
No changes to crush can or turn signal issues.

I have the same wheel on my 70 Challenger and I had to open up the 3 screw holes a bit but know real issues. You will need a horn button kit from Grant.

I sent back the wood wheel. The wood joints were separated and the wood sandwiches the metal, which is visible, making the grip to thick.

I got the cheaper vinyl covered tuff wheel, not the leather one. IMO the wheel is an easy install and looks fine. However, the grant horn button you’re supposed to buy with it is trash. I would buy the tuff horn retainer from Classic Ind. for $20 and use the factory switch and tuff button. So much better!

Same here. I switched the crush can out for the shorter A body spacer though. I'm a big guy and wanted the steering wheel further away from me.

One of the reasons I want to replace the steering wheel, is because the crush can doesn't fit properly. There is a gap of about 1/2 inch between the crush can and the column. I removed the crush can to look at the splines. The splines have seen better days. The crush can looks like it was removed by prying around the edges. Because the crush can doesn't fit properly, the turn signals don't cancel. It looks like the steering shaft and the crush can will need to be replaced. Replacing the steering wheel would be the easiest solution. Thanks.

I put a grant wood wheel in my challenger, it fit well. I used a horn it came with.
I changed out my crush can for a B body one. They are shorter, to get the steering wheel father away from my chest. I found that it did put it father away from.my chest, but since the steering wheel comes up at an angle, it put the wheel lower and too close to my knees.
Went back to the original crush can.
Then I raised the front of the seat by putting a couple washers under the front 2 bolts. It tilted the seat back and gave me the room I needed.

Yup, bolts right on in place of the crush can!
