Me and my dads 1973 Plymouth Barracuda project

My grandpa bought a 1973 barracuda back in the 70s brand new and was the only owner of the car. In 1997 the car was parked in his back yard to sit and rot. Now in 2014 he has given me and dad the keys and title and the car. I am 18 and have an auto body class at my highschool and have brought it to school to strip apart and one day paint ive only had it at school for two weeks. This is how much weve got done so far.

Yeh its ganna need a lot of patch and metal work but it can be saved. Cant wait to drive it when shes finally ready.

Oh yes I love all the old mopars and classics but theres just something about a barracuda. the car is a one owner and it has always been in the family. the grandpa told me the only way we could have the car is if we promised not to sell it. but that's not ganna be a problem cuz its not going anywhere.

Pretty cool project there. Very awesome that you can go to school and work on your project. There is not enough of that happening anymore here in Cali. Most auto shops at school have been eliminated. Keep up the good work. You will have a treasure for life.

Auto shops are out here in South Florida also. It's good to see it isn't full of rice burners there.

Awesome project and the car is a looker! Looks to have a had a vinyl top when new. White? The good news for you is all the great reproduction parts available today. If you tacked that project 20 years ago it would have most likely been junked. Now you can find everything you need and you are right, one family owner is even better. Good luck.

I think it's grate to see young blood getting into the field! you are lucky to have A school that offers such a class. and wise to use the resores thay have. good luck and make grandpa proud.

I'm pissed !!! When I was 18 I wanted a Cuda and had to wait until I was 60 !!!

Glad to see there's still some HS shops that do projects like that. My old school decided it was best to concentrate on sending kids to College and that woods/metals training wasn't needed. You can only guess how intense the conversation becomes when I get around a Board member.

You'll notice how that changed and shops went away when the Federal Government got involved with college student loans.

Gatta get some sheet metal so i can make a few patches. gatta find two lower rear quarter patches and two trunk drop offs. and two trunk gutter patches. but all in all its rolling along pretty good. really appreciate all the replies guys.
