Hello everyone. My name is John. I'm new to this board but just rejoining the hobby after 10 years off. My last car was a 71 cuda 383 4sp Tx9. I just picked up a 70 u-code cuda that fell victim to hurricane Sandy. She took water up to the bottom of the dash. The person that sold it to me was on it from day one flushing it with fresh water. He did not have the means to bring it back. My son, friends and myself will. Here are the details about the car.
Car was in # 2 condition before the storm.
Complete drive train is numbers matching. Dana-354, 4sp, 440 ,black on black with red hockey stripe.
2 build sheets, 74,000 original documented miles 1 repaint. No repo stuff on this car.
Elastomeric fr and rr bumpers. An original shaker hood (not a n96 car though-he gave me the bubble hood!as well)
Also has a date coded six-pac set up now (also gave me the original manifold and carter avs!)
So those are the only two added options. Everything else lines up with the build Sheet.

I am removing the entire interior and drive train and will spend the winter scrubbing, treating and rebuilding everything.

I look forward to any advice and also giving it. Happy holidays. John T 2012-11-28_11-23-04_180.jpg2012-11-28_11-22-17_962.jpg2012-11-28_11-23-48_429.jpg2012-11-28_12-33-17_579.jpgCuda on flatbed.jpg

No. Not a salvage title. I bought the car before he had a chance to think about it.

Buy the way, the car in this crazy post from a couple of years ago was mine. I owned it from 1983-2001. I sold it to the guy that I bought this 440 from. It still exists, and the person posting all that garbage is in fact the actual owner. I'm told he picked it up with a u-haul car hauler and jackknifed on the way to PA. That is probably why there are so few pictures. It a shame, that is a numbers matching black on tan leather 383 4sp. BTW, if any of you end up with it, the original heads, carb, intake, and super commando air cleaner are still in the possession of the seller. I saw them in his garage! This crazy guy did not want them! John

Yes it looks great. This week I stripped out the entire interior. It doesn't look that bad. But I'm not taking any chances. Baking soda solution to neutralize the salt damage, about 2 gallons of wd-40 and lots of scrubbing so far. I'm removing the engine next week so I can take it apart and make sure everything is OK. Water entered the engine through the exhaust. At that time it will be on a lift so I will attack the undercarriage. Should I be posting the progress in the resto forum?

Welcome to the board. Nice car!!!! I have a black 70 V-code Cuda that is black with the red stripe. My interior is black leather with the overhead console. Mine has the rubber bumpers and silver shaker also. Almost twins. Right now it is apart. Some day it will be on the road again.

Been awhile so I thought I would update you all on the project. I finished it July 2013. Since then its been a joy to own. Ive won a few local shows, got 3rd at Englishtown last year and 2nd place Plymouth at Musclepalooza a few weeks ago. It will be an ongoing project of improvement and maintenance because I drive it whenever I can. If anyone ever wants to tackle a project like this or is just curious what had to be done please don't hesitate to ask me. I have over 800 pictures of the project and can tell you things you never would have thought of. It was all worth it though. Thanks for the support.
