Ma's `cuda. A long time coming.

We started laying out the wiring harnesses and control pieces for the car today. It's gonna be 20lbs, in a 5lb bag.

I bought all the repop harnesses for the car about 15 years ago. We moved about that same period of time, and they're nowhere to be found. GRRRR

Probably stumble across them a week after the car is finished.

Might as well post a 4-sale ad for them now.

I figure if I found another cuda shell, I'd have 3/4 of the stuff to put it back together from all the stuff I'm not using... since changing the build.

Yea....found the box of new harnesses. Only took about 2 weeks. Now comes the really fun part....I hate electrical stuff.

I need pics [inside and out] of the bulkhead connector installed. The multiple plastic pieces seem redundant. Thanks!

Well, went to the shop today. Ernie spent a few hours on the headers. They fit very nicely, and are removable without any other pieces interfering. I have to order some V-clamps, and he'll get to the exhaust next. No hurry at this point, cause I get my left knee replaced next Thursday. There's plenty of fab stuff to do, and I'll be able to go back and forth to his shop within a week or two. Going to meet Motley Crue tomorrow...woo hoo!

The fabrication and fitting of the components is just gorgeous. This will be a spectacular mix of "old & new" when complete. If flows together perfectly. Great job!

Thank you. Coming from someone as ambitious as yourself...that's a compliment for sure. I'm past the part I find really enjoyable of a build. I like when it gets to a mechanical-roller point. From then on, everything gets covered up.

Took everything off of the cowl again to start routing the harnesses. I don't think this will be as bad as it first seemed. I don't like having to cut a 2 3/8" hole in the cowl....but that's what's required. It'll be interesting, mounting all the crap that talks to each other. I also installed one of those coupler clamps on the column.....holy sheep dip! I can't believe the mechanics installed them on the car.

Good luck sorting through all that.
X2 on having a hard time cutting the big 2 inch hole. I plan to use the existing factory blower motor hole as the wiring pass through and relocate the Vintage Air hoses to the inner fender well.

Mike.

Mike, You're scaring everybody.

I probably will park at least two spaces down in case it catches on fire.

LOL..I'm gonna have you belted into it, if it catches fire.....smart ass.:icon_twisted:

The hole will be behind the manifold, and not really that visable. I did the hidden A/C crap on one build[along with the wiring]. It was nice, but not worth the headaches. That's not the "look" I'm going for with this car. The more "factory-installed" look on this one....the better.

I hate electrical. Have fun...
Me too. If I have any shortcomings in building cars...that would be it.

Well....put my big-boy pants on, and made the hole for the new harness. Drilling that large hole was a bit intimidating. Everything went pretty smooth, and got the wiring laying where most will be routed. Then we installed the evaporator/heater box again. Next, I have build the 2 water lines to the cowl and install the intake. It still seems so far away, even though we're making good progress.
